Sarah Thorley's performances are enacted within the tradition of 1990s maintenance art in their exploration of the low status of blue-collar jobs and roles such as cleaning and caretaking that persistently go unnoticed or are undervalued in contemporary society. She is interested in the role of the artist and crossovers between being an artist and the playing out a role.
